The main characteristic of Jesi are surely the walls, which hold the medieval centre of the city.
They were built in the IVth century on the trails of the Roman walls, of which today we still have the six doors and the towers.
Jesi is the birthplace of Federico II, who is also known as “Stupor Mundi” thanks to his intellectual curiosity.
The main square is ruled by the Pergolesi Theatre, which was built in 1790, taking its name by the musician Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, who was born here in 1710 and became an important author of holy music.
